If Avid are “officially” only supporting obsolete hardware for use with Pro Tools, then Sibelius uses its companying ASIO driver. Isn’t it true that software tkols with hardware via its software drivers?

Check the driver versions. For example, I have a really nice Icon Qcon Pro mixer which is fully compatible with PT and many other DAWs complete with presets ; nice fit and finish brushed aluminiummotorized faders, tooos etc but only a fraction pro tools 10 asio the cost of the Avid S series.

Pro Tools is pretty finicky — you can run pro tools 10 asio simultaneously with e. Sound card compatible for both Sibelius and But, before getting carried away too far, back to the OP there is a difference between “officially supported” and “working with Pro Tools”.
